CODE OF CONDUCT

The Aalto Salsa Society (ASS) is dedicated to fostering a welcoming and inclusive community for latin dance enthusiasts. To ensure a positive and respectful environment, all members are expected to adhere to the following code of conduct.

  1. Respect for Others
    1. Treat all members and guests with kindness, respect, and consideration, regardless of their age, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, disability, or skill level.
    2. We have a zero-tolerance policy for unacceptable behaviours toward any attendees, members, or organizers of our classes and events, including but not limited to:
      • Disrespectful comments
      • Intimidating behaviour or violence
      • Inappropriate physical contact
      • Sustained disruption of talks or other events
      • Bullying
      • Stalking
      • Discrimination
      • Harassment
      • Advocating for or encouraging any of the above behaviour
  2. Class Etiquette
    1. Arrive on time for classes and events to minimize disruptions.
    2. Listen attentively to instructors and follow their directions during classes.
    3. Be patient and supportive of fellow dancers, especially beginners.
  3. Hygiene and Attire
    1. Maintain proper personal hygiene and wear clean dance attire to ensure a pleasant dancing experience for everyone.
    2. Dress appropriately, following any dress codes specified for events or venues.
  4. Photography and Videography
    1. Obtain explicit consent from individuals before taking or sharing their photos or videos.
    2. Respect the privacy of those who do not wish to be photographed or recorded.
  5. Behavior on the Telegram group
    1. Before sharing content (links, images, videos), ensure it is appropriate, relevant, and respectful to all members and guests of ASS.
    2. Give credit to the original creators when sharing content that is not your own.
    3. Stay on topic, keep discussions focused on topics relevant to ASS and avoid sharing unrelated content, promotions, or advertisements for other groups or events.
  6. Alcohol and Substance Use
    1. Refrain from attending classes while under the influence of alcohol or illegal substances.
    2. Drink responsibly and in accordance with the rules of the venue, if applicable.
  7. Conflict Resolution
    1. Address conflicts or concerns through open and respectful communication.
    2. If a conflict cannot be resolved privately, involve the society's board or the ombudsperson(s) for assistance.
  8. Membership Accountability
    1. Members who violate this code of conduct may face consequences, including warnings, temporary suspension, or expulsion from the Aalto Salsa Society and/or its activities, depending on the severity of the violation.
  9. Reporting Violations
    1. Report any code of conduct violations to the board of the association or ombudsperson(s).
    2. Provide as much detail as possible to aid in the resolution process.

By signing up and participating in the Aalto Salsa Society’s activities, participants acknowledge their commitment to abiding by this code of conduct and agree to its principles.
